Al Ihsan Relief (AIR) provides hot meals to senior citizens in Umzumbe

Al Ihsan Relief (AIR), in conjunction with Darul Ihsan Centre, provided hot packed meals to over 350 senior citizens at the Kwa Hlongwa rural area in Umzumbe

Monday, 11 December 2017.

The AIR team - including a group of dedicated volunteer sisters from Durban - were warmly welcomed by senior facilitators at the Kwa Hlongwa community hall.

Abdul Saeed Shaik, Operations Manager of the AIR team, presented an overview of Darul Ihsan Centre’s many outreach programmes and the Muslim community’s participation and contributions towards such humanitarian projects in rural areas.

After the meals were served three elderly women from the community were handed walking aids from Darul Ihsan Centre amidst a resounding applause by all who attended.

Mrs Nompumelelo Kwawula, the coordinator the event, thanked the Centre’s outreach team for the hot meals and walking aids. Also present at the event was the Head Induna Mr Victor Nzama who expressed his heartfelt thanks to the team. The seniors shared their joy by singing for the team and expressed their most sincere appreciation for the meals provided.

These outreaches are made possible through the generous contributions and ongoing support of the Muslim community.
